Easy Contour App Reviews
this sucks it should be simple but the developer lost track of what it is supposed to do. I just want to enter xyz coordiantes and generate a topomap no way to do that that I can find no online help ONline video missing grid icon missing what a waste of money!!!!!
Money Wasted
This is hopeless.Total waste of money. At this price is expected a smoothly working app - but I gpt thre opposite. I spent a lot of time trying this and that and cpuld not make any kind of a plot. The documention is useless. No examples, no tutorials. Certinaly is not intuitive. I requested a refund
No Support
The software has great potential as it appears to be modeled after MacGridzo - a great OS9 contouring package. But, unfortunately, the only time I heard from the developer was before I purchased the software. Afterwards, after requesting help twice, no response. Disappointing.
Missing Contour Layer under OSX 10.9
Though 10.9 is listed as compatible, versions 5.0 through 5.2 have continued to exhibit the inability to Add a Contour Layer for processing imported scatter data. The Contour icon in the menu bar is all missing. In addition, Force Quit and the Activity Monitor display only the EasyContour icon. Without the program name, the AM search cannot single-out Easy Contour. Attempted to load a small ASCII .grd. Though Easy Contour recognized the file type, the file import appeared to hang. CPU stopped accumulating.
Great App - works well, manual need work, great tech support!
I do not use this type of program often, in fact, it’s been four years. The manual could be more step-by-step to help the newbie and minimize frustration. What’s offered is good, but assumes a lot for the the new person. Tech support is quick and clear!
Easy Contour rocks
I’m a geologist and I’ve looked for a long time for a decent contouring package that runs on a Mac. This is it. It takes a little experimentation to figure out how to use it, but this program is quite capable. Yesterday I fed it 70,000 data points and it never balked. It politely created an accurate color-filled contour map with appropriately labeled contours. The application has cartographic smarts too. I can overlay ArcGIS shape files of data on top of the contours. I can also export maps as ArcInfo-compatible grids or AutoCad-compatible DXF files. Kudos to the programmer for an excellent job of coding. I’ve used much more expensive contouring packages that are not as capable as this program.
Nice initial effort but needs a lot of more tools and input formats
This is a nice basic contour software but needs a lot more features (georeferenced coordinate systems (ITRF, WGS84, UTM projection grid, area, perimeter, closure error, catch basin drainage map, etc), tools (COGO, new points, close polygon, set area, etc) and data input/output format support (DWG, KML, SHP, XLSX EXCEL worksheets, etc). Even the icon bar can not be customized yet, nor can the minor and major contour’s intervals can be set.. It is a good first effort so hopefully the author will implement all these missing features soon and make it a great contouring package
a big disappointment
Where to start? How about I start with this: DO NOT BUY THIS. This is not a release-quality app. It is alpha quality (at best), and should be withdrawn from the app store as it does not do what it says it does. This is a new app with no reviews at all, so I took a chance and bought it. What I really did is take one for the team, because I paid ten bucks for the privilege of writing this review telling the rest of you not to buy this app. Lucky me…. 1) Documentation is very poor and in sub-standard English. It consists of 37 pages of screenshots with two or three sentences each, one of which is almost always "Following shown:" Here is an example: This report describe the base operation on this software. Feedback ,We really hope that you can help us to improve this software,If you have any advice or suggestions please send email to us. Thank you very much for read it. 2) It doesn't do what it says. The description specifically says that the app can draw contours. To me, this means I should be able to import a raster image and DRAW contour lines on it. Unfortunately, all you can do is key in data points in a table (or import them from a CSV file). 3) Weird interface. To perform any basic function (like creating a contour layer), you have to right-click on the layer you want and then choose from a two-level submenu. 4) When attempting to change data points in the contour table, the app crashes when I click Ok. Every time. 5) When attempting to draw lines (not contours—just lines), there is no apparent way to get the draw tool to stop drawing. I have no idea how one is supposed to edit lines one has drawn. 6) The only file format supported for export is PNG. The only export option is to specify the width of the image and the filename. And to top things off, it doesn't export all of the layers. Maybe subsequent versions will be an improvement. Actually, I know they will be an improvement, because it can't get much worse.
